Pastoral Care and Welfare
The house is managed by the Assistant Headmaster (Boarding) Mr Alister Minnis. Day to day care is managed by the houseparents, Mr and Mrs Fitzgerald, both of whom teach at the school. Their work is supported by a team of resident tutors and non resident matrons. All staff have been checked with Disclosure Scotland and the pastoral care provided in the house is inspected twice a year by the Care Commission. All staff undergo regular training and appraisal.
Medical support is provided by the School Nurse, Mrs Serpell and pupils are registered with a local medical practice and dental practice. The school doctors hold surgeries for boarders twice a week in Burnbrae.
Academic support is provided by subject specialists during prep time. Pupils are able to sign up for extra support in Science, English, Mathematics and Languages. The Head of Transitus and Head of Learning Support also provide extra help on a weekly basis for younger boarders.
