Message Board

Lomond is keen to maintain contact with all those who have had a connection with the school in the past and who may want to have a connection with the school in the future. The school has recently re-launched the association for Former pupils to extend to former parents and indeed former teachers.

The new organisation is called The Lomond School Association. Membership is free and open to all who have attended Larchfield, St Brides or Lomond Schools. It is also open to former teachers and parents.  The main communication vehicle for this organisation in its infancy will be a group on the social networking site Facebook. To join Facebook simply register at www.facebook.com. Once registered search for the Lomond School Association and apply to join. Via this site you will receive information about planned activities and hopefully be able to catch up with class mates. Eventually the aim of the Association will be to translate the membership of the Facebook group into a proper stand alone web presence.

The LSA will be responsible for organising reunions, sports fixtures and other events. Please use the email address lomondfriends@lomond-school.org to contact the Secretary, Calum Sweeney.

Email Symbol Hello, I am wondering if anybody remembers me?
My name is Mary duffin and I was assistant housemistress at Woodend in Millig Street in 1966. The headmistress was Miss Gillespie. Woodend was a boarding house fot the pupils of St. Brides school in John St there were two junior houses Woodend and Ishmount, and the senior house was Landsdown Park.My juniors were Kathryn Clinton, Laurie Clinton, Lisa Davidson,Mary Grant,Rebel Headly,Sheridon McDonald, Valarie Nelson, Anne Nelson, Helen Telfor. Now my 85 year old memory for names is not so good, but I do remember my busy but happy times at Woodend. Would love to hear from anybody who remembers me!!!

Email Symbol I just discovered this website during some random googling and thought it would be fun to see if any of my former school friends are out there still! I was at St Brides from 1956-66. For many years I tried to find Joan Smith (impossible name!)nee Whitehead, and so many other good friends with whom I lost contact. So would love to hear from anyone who was there way back in the mists of time -- I now live in the US. Susan Shay

Email Symbol I was at Larchfield from 1960 until 1965. Mr Hutcheson was the headmaster then. I can still remember the names of several teachers, Mr. Lewin, Miss macMillan, Mrs Fraser, Mr Melross and wasnīt it Mr McGeorge that was the rugby coach and also the enforcer of discipline and doled out punishment with his clachan!! Ouch!! hey I too remember Alan Glenn, so you must have been about the same form as me Duncan. I was a boarder and was never tremendously academic, but did enjoy the games..played in the 1st XV and went on to be in the West of Scotland Prep Schools team, playing at Murrayfield. Seem to recall we lost. Used to love the bicycle ride to the playing fields and the woods behind them. I went on from Larchfield to Fettes, where there many other ex larchfield pupils. I live in Spain and Florida these days, canīt take that Scottish climate any longer. If anyone remembers me, or just wants to talk about the old days, shoot me an email.

Email Symbol Hi there.
I'm an ex-pupil of Larchfield school from 1961-1968. I had a great time there and still see old friends from that time. I returned to Helensburgh a few years ago and was sad to see the old building gone. Am a long time London resident now but still think fondly of belting down Colquhoun St with Alan Glen on our bikes never stopping at junctions but turning our heads to listen for cars! Happy days. Regards, Duncan Smith.
