Headmaster's Message

Lomond occupies an unique place in the provision of education in the West of Scotland. It caters for both day and boarding pupils, boys and girls, from the age of 3-18 years based on the Scottish model of education but 'borrowing' elements from elsewhere. Consistently ranked academically amongst the top ten schools in Scotland it is nevertheless non-selective in its intake and achieves its remarkably consistent results due to the quality of its provision both within and outwith the classroom. The school prides itself on enabling every individual to achieve their potential both academically and, possibly more importantly, as a human being. We try to draw out and maximize the talents that lie within each individual, and our small scale (600 pupils) and a series of unique initiatives have enabled that process to be recognised as successful by our existing clientele as well as by HMIe, who, in 2007, gave the school the highest number of 'excellent' ratings of any secondary school in Scotland.

We try to ensure that our students live busy, happy lives; that they enjoy inner self-confidence and self-respect and care for and respect others. I am immensely proud of what is achieved here as I know that we can transform lives. I can but hope that this site will give you a flavour of what we are about and look forward to hearing from you.
