Personal Development Framework

An innovative Personal Development Framework has been designed to encourage the development of positive character traits, with a particular focus on independence, self-confidence, teamwork and commitment. Involvement in extra-curricular activities, trips and expeditions is strongly recommended as a means to developing these traits, whilst obviously also being a source of enjoyment and interest. We encourage pupils to take on responsibility in these activities. The concepts of teamwork, commitment, self-confidence and independence are developed through a series of personal development days when the timetable is suspended. These days are run in school by staff from ‘Beyond Adventure’, a company which specialises in outdoor adventure and personal development. The monitoring of participation in activities and reporting to parents on personal development is embedded in the framework.
