Outdoor education
Lomond is ideally situated for taking advantage of the opportunities for learning and personal development provided by the hills and lochs that dominate the local area. Major strands include the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, annual wilderness expeditions (canoeing, walking), Outward Bound (part of S6 training), the Scottish Islands Peaks race, Lomond challenge triathlon and the regular diet of weekend involvement in such activities as rock climbing, skiing, gorge walking, hill-running, orienteering, canoeing, sailing, camp-craft and so on. Using a combination of staff who have National qualifications and full time outdoor education instructors the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities is built into the school experience for every pupil. Outdoor education is given significant emphasis by the school and the quality and quantity offered is at a very high level.
